Ateneu Cultural Ciutat de Manises was born on January 8, 2008 from a group of professionals in culture, art, education and sociology, to create a holistic project to improve society using art as a common thread.

It was created with the aim of satisfying a need: for the social-cultural fabric to broaden its horizons in favor of a plural culture with complete historical rigour, creating a training school with a differentiating and innovative educational system, as well as professional artistic groups.

“We believe that education is the key to the future and only by being properly educated and trained in art and culture, as a tool for the development of life, can we create a better society.

The objective of the entity is to instill values such as: the culture of effort, patience, tolerance, responsibility and co-responsibility, creativity, cooperative work, humility, generosity, solidarity, gratitude and happiness”

Ateneu is an institution open to the whole society is absolutely in line with the MOVEMENT approach, in particular their interest in contrasting school ‘failure’ and dropout through culture and arts (e.g. “O.S.C.G.A.R. Awards” project).  It work with music as well as in educational contexts where Ateneu Cultural Ciutat de Manises has won several prizes for the innovation and effectiveness of its projects (e.g. Award Horta Sud Foundation, Caixa Popular and Ugarte Foundation in 2015; Fighting Against School Failure Award in 2014 awarded by The Valencian Regional Government’s Council for Education; award by the ARTIC association from Torrent in 2017 and 2021 by FSMCV; Award Manises Innova in 2017 by Manises’ Town Hall; Award for Educational Innovation in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021 by Council for Education).
