Central Helsinki Music Institute
Central Helsinki Music Institute is a music community for children and young people active from 2008.

Central Helsinki Music Institute offers different services: an acoustically first-class concert hall as well as other facilities that provide a wide range of musical experiences for people of all ages and a place to study music. The center offers its training to pupils coming from different schools in Helsinki and focus its lessons on instrumental music and vocal individual tuition (nearly 200 children for the age bracket 6-15 and other 50 young students aged 15-20 years old). The teachers are free to use every useful method and usually mix Orff, Suzuki, Kodaly, Dalcroze etc. The educational approach is based on the constructive conception of learning, where the pupil is an active actor and learns to set his/her own goals.

Central Helsinki Music Institute main activities operates in a relatively better socio-economic mix where music training is funded by the Finnish regional agency. The center collaboration for Movement is with 3 schools (Kalasatama, Aleksis Kivi, Vallila) that were never involved in such programs before but which face similar problems encompassing students with special needs, migrant origins, economic disadvantage.
